Russian director Ilya Khrzhanovsky declined to denounce his film's lead actor, conductor Teodor Currentzis, over Currentzis's refusal to speak out against Russia's war in Ukraine, The Guardian reported.
Khrzhanovsky said "everyone pays for his own choice" when asked about the matter, according to the report. Currentzis stars as physicist Lev Landau in Khrzhanovsky's film "DAU," which premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
