Russia's container shipping market grew 6% year-on-year to 4.72 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) in the January-August period of 2026, according to transportation group Fesco, cited by TASS.
Import container shipments were a key driver of the increase, rising 16% to 2.03 million TEU over the same period, the company said.
The growth suggests continued expansion in Russia's container trade despite the broader economic pressures the country has faced amid Western sanctions tied to the war in Ukraine. Container shipping figures are widely watched as an indicator of import and export activity and broader trade flows.
Fesco, one of Russia's major transportation and logistics groups, did not immediately provide a further breakdown of the shipment data by route or destination.
