Russia's Wheat Exports to Uzbekistan Surge 16-Fold in January-August 2026

Russia's wheat exports to Uzbekistan increased sixteenfold in January-August 2026 compared with the same period the previous year, according to a Russian federal export center cited by TASS.

The center's estimates indicate that Russia delivered more than 71,000 tons of wheat to Uzbekistan during the eight-month period, the report said, though TASS did not specify the volume shipped during the equivalent period in the prior year that forms the basis for the sixteenfold comparison.

The report did not detail what factors drove the sharp increase in exports, such as changes in Uzbek demand, pricing dynamics, logistics arrangements, or shifts in competition from other wheat-exporting countries in the region.

Russia is one of the world's largest wheat exporters, and Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, have traditionally been among the destinations for its grain shipments given their geographic proximity and existing trade and transport links with Russia.

TASS's report did not indicate whether Russian officials expect the pace of exports to Uzbekistan to continue at similar levels for the remainder of 2026.
