Russia's Electricity Exports Edge Lower Over First Eight Months of 2024

Russia's electricity exports declined slightly over the first eight months of the year, according to a report by the state news agency TASS.

The report cited data from Inter RAO, Russia's state-controlled electricity trading company, which said its exports increased by 4% to 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in the first half of the year.

At the same time, Inter RAO reduced its electricity imports by 5.3% to 1.2 billion kWh during the same six-month period, TASS reported.

The figures suggest a shift in the balance of Russia's cross-border electricity trade, with exports rising even as the country imported less power from abroad.
