Russia Plans Mass Rollout of In-Flight Internet by 2030

Russia is planning a mass rollout of in-flight internet access across its aircraft fleet by 2030, according to the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC).
RSCC Director General Alexey Volin explained that many of the foreign-made aircraft used by Russian airlines come equipped with technology configured for foreign satellite operators, some of which have exited the Russian market in recent years.
Technical hurdles
Adapting these aircraft to work with domestic or alternative satellite infrastructure is described as part of the broader challenge in expanding in-flight connectivity across Russia's commercial fleet.
The 2030 timeline reflects the scale of the technical and logistical work involved in retrofitting existing aircraft and integrating new connectivity systems compatible with currently available satellite providers.
