Russia and China plan to establish a permanent visa-free travel arrangement, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed a temporary visa-free regime through mid-September 2026 about a year ago, which Russian President Vladimir Putin supported, leading to the introduction of reciprocal visa-free travel for Chinese citizens.
The current arrangement is set to expire in September 2026, and the two countries are now discussing how to extend the agreement indefinitely.
