In an interview with "Le Monde," Rodolphe Belmer, CEO of TF1, expressed concerns about the economic future of the French audiovisual sector in the face of competition from digital platforms, particularly YouTube.

According to the daily newspaper's account, the executive regrets having received no response from Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu to a letter in which he requested an overhaul of the regulatory framework governing broadcasting in France.

Rodolphe Belmer warns against what he calls a "low-cost economy," in which YouTube could, in his view, drag the entire sector. He believes that this dynamic poses a risk to the entire French audiovisual industry.

According to statements cited by "Le Monde," if the current regulatory framework does not evolve, the economic consequences for the sector could be significant, potentially jeopardizing what the TF1 CEO refers to as the "French social contract."

The TF1 executive is calling on public authorities to respond to a situation he considers worrying for the future of traditional television and broadcasting in France.
