Review Finds Travelodge Guests Still at Risk After Sexual Assault Prompted Inquiry

An independent review into Travelodge has found that guests remain at risk, with complaints of room intrusions reported at nearly one in 10 of its hotels over the summer.

The review was commissioned earlier this year after a man was convicted of a serious sexual assault against a Travelodge guest in Maidenhead in 2022, in a case that involved a woman being attacked by a man who had been given a copy of her room key.

The 70-page report, published on Thursday, detailed findings on the scale of room intrusion complaints across the hotel chain and set out recommendations aimed at improving guest safety.

Among the steps identified were the creation of a new policy to address violence against women and girls, alongside broader measures to improve security practices across Travelodge properties. The company has not yet detailed a full timeline for implementing the review's recommendations.
