A review by the Consumer Policy Research Centre found that some rental platforms, known as "RentTech" companies, are asking prospective tenants for personal information outside the scope permitted by new Victorian tenancy laws, the Guardian reported.
The review identified rental platforms encouraging hopeful tenants to share what it described as an excessive amount of information, according to the report.
