Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and secretary general of the International Tahzeem-e-Harmain Sharifain Council, called Monday for religious leaders worldwide to take an active joint role in promoting lasting peace, ending wars and conflicts, and protecting people from violence, terrorism and extremism.
