DRC: Former Justice Minister Constant Mutamba Sentenced to Ten Years Hard Labor
Congo's Supreme Court of Cassation condemned the former Justice Minister on Friday for embezzling over 20 million dollars.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Supreme Court of Cassation handed down its verdict Friday, September 18, 2026 against Constant Mutamba, former Justice Minister and Keeper of the Seals, sentencing him to ten years hard labor for misappropriation of public funds. According to sources, over 20 million U.S. dollars were embezzled, comprising contested victim compensation payments and controversial public works contracts.
These sums were managed by the Special Fund for Reparations and Compensation of Victims of Uganda's Illicit Activities (Frivao), based in the northeastern part of the country during the 2000s.
