The government is considering implementing a new fuel relief program for working people, announced government spokesperson Maud Bregeon during an interview with France Inter.
"We are working on a new relief program (...) starting October 1st," she stated, according to reports in Le Monde. She specified that this assistance would be intended for "French people who work".
According to the spokesperson, maintaining the so-called "heavy drivers" program, which targets motorists who travel long distances to reach their workplace, represents only one of the options currently being studied by the executive.
This announcement comes amid social tensions related to fluctuating fuel prices, though Maud Bregeon did not provide further details about the content or specific terms of the future program at this stage.
