Édouard Philippe held his first campaign political committee meeting on Tuesday, September 8, in Paris ahead of the 2027 presidential election, according to RFI. Several ministers who have rallied to his candidacy were present, including Gérald Darmanin and Maud Bregeon, alongside right-wing figures such as former Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin and Sarkozy supporter Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet.
During this meeting, the former Prime Minister proposed to his competitors from the right and center that they form a joint committee, with a first meeting planned for early November, RFI reports.
According to the same source, Gabriel Attal and Bruno Retailleau have already declined this proposal.
This initiative comes as a competition is taking shape, just over a year before the presidential election, among several figures from the presidential majority and the right ahead of 2027.
