One of the world's most visited pornography websites, Pornhub, is being investigated by the UK's communications watchdog over concerns it can still be accessed by children.
Ofcom said Pornhub's age-checking regime may not be "highly effective", as required under the Online Safety Act, and could therefore be in breach of online safety laws.
The Online Safety Act requires platforms hosting pornographic content to implement strict measures preventing under-18s from accessing sexually explicit material.
The investigation adds Pornhub to a growing list of platforms facing regulatory scrutiny in the UK since the Act's age-verification provisions came into force.
Ofcom has not set out a timeline for concluding the investigation or indicated what enforcement action, if any, might follow.
