The results of the PISA 2025 survey, published Tuesday by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), show a decline in French student performance, according to information reported by Le Monde.
Asked about these results, Education Minister Edouard Geffray described it as a "structural phenomenon," which he attributed to a shift in how children are being educated, notably due to their growing exposure to social media.
The minister acknowledged that authorities "should have questioned earlier what measures to take for middle school," without providing further details on the measures being considered at this stage.
In response to this assessment, Edouard Geffray proposed clarifying learning objectives to families, aiming, in his view, to better support children's education.
The PISA survey, conducted every three years by the OECD, assesses the skills of 15-year-old students across multiple countries and serves as an international benchmark for comparing education systems.
