News of his death was announced on the band's website and social media, which stated that Byrne died peacefully in Los Angeles on September 14 following a brief illness, according to the Guardian.
Naked Eyes formed in England in the early 1980s and became known for blending synth-pop production with Byrne's vocals, finding particular success on the US charts during that decade.
