Patricio Guzmán, an internationally acclaimed Chilean documentary filmmaker, passed away at age 85, according to Le Monde. The director was notably famous for producing "The Battle of Chile" between 1972 and 1973, a five-hour documentary trilogy devoted to the government of socialist president Salvador Allende.
Guzmán received numerous international awards for his work, which documented Chile's political transformations during the Allende era and the period that followed.
