Noura Erakat, a human rights lawyer and Palestinian American activist, was arrested Tuesday at a Palm Beach County, Florida budget hearing, according to The Guardian. Erakat was among several attendees forcibly removed by local law enforcement when they attempted to speak during public comment about the county's investment in Israeli bonds, described as the largest by a U.S. municipal government.
Erakat said the Florida mayor shortened speaking time and banned discussion of the bond investments. The county's total investment in Israeli bonds exceeds $1 billion.
