Pakistan's state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) said that roughly 4,700 people were detained over the past year in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, a Himalayan region claimed by both India and Pakistan.

The agency's report, published to coincide with the United Nations' International Day of Peace, described the situation in the territory as one of continued unrest under Indian administration. It did not cite an independent source for the detention figure.
