Pakistan says it shot down eight drones entering from Afghanistan near border

Pakistan's air defense system intercepted and shot down eight drones that entered the country's airspace from Afghanistan, according to security sources cited by the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Four of the drones were shot down in areas adjacent to the Torkham border crossing, while the remaining four were brought down in mountainous areas near the border adjoining Kohat, the sources said.

The incident adds to a series of reported border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan in recent months. Pakistani authorities have periodically reported drone incursions and other cross-border incidents along the frontier.
