Pakistan pushes back at India's terrorism allegations at UN General Assembly

A Pakistani diplomat on Friday responded sharply after an Indian delegate accused Pakistan of being a sponsor and promoter of terrorism during proceedings at the United Nations General Assembly.

Saima Saleem, a counsellor at Pakistan's mission to the UN, rejected the allegations, saying India "exports terrorism and violence while trying to import victimhood and sympathy." She further asserted that New Delhi has "elevated propaganda into statecraft."

The exchange reflects the longstanding pattern of mutual accusations between India and Pakistan at multilateral forums, particularly around issues of security and cross-border terrorism, which remain central points of contention between the two countries.

Neither side's remarks at the assembly were accompanied by new evidence presented in the public session, and the exchange is likely to remain part of the broader rhetorical contest between the two governments at the UN.
