Pakistan's prime minister has directed a comprehensive overhaul of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital, ordering that short-term measures be implemented within three months, according to a report by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
The directive came during a briefing by the Ministry of National Health Services on steps already taken to improve operations at PIMS, APP reported.
According to the briefing, a performance audit of the hospital examined several indicators and found only 39.7% compliance, far below the acceptable target of 90% set for such institutions.
