Pakistan's men's hockey team began their campaign at the 20th Asian Games in Japan with a 9-0 win over Thailand in a Pool B match, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

APP reported that Pakistan controlled the match from the opening whistle, not allowing Thailand any significant scoring opportunities across all four quarters. Moeen Shakeel opened the scoring for Pakistan, according to APP.
