Pakistan Condemns Drone Incursion From Afghan Territory

Pakistan's federal minister for information and broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has strongly condemned what he described as a deliberate and unlawful drone incursion into Pakistani territory launched from Afghanistan.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X on Thursday, Tarar said Pakistan's air defence systems detected, tracked and neutralised the incursion, and that Islamabad's response amounted to an exercise of its right to self-defence under international law.

The minister did not provide further operational details about the incident, including the exact location of the incursion or the type of drone involved. The statement comes amid a period of heightened tension along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where cross-border security incidents have periodically strained relations between Islamabad and the Afghan authorities.

Pakistani officials have in recent months repeatedly raised concerns about security threats they say originate from Afghan soil, while authorities in Kabul have rejected accusations that they allow armed groups to operate from Afghan territory.
