UN: Russia's "ridiculous and senseless" war against Ukraine must stop, Zelensky insists

The 81st United Nations General Assembly is being held until September 28 in New York. After the speeches of Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, Iran took center stage on Wednesday, alongside the war in Ukraine.
After the Iranian president, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took the floor, hammering home that "this ridiculous and senseless war" waged by Russia "against Ukraine must stop".
He made it clear that "Russia is not our target, but its ability to finance this war" is, a phrase apparently aimed at the economic resources that allow Moscow to continue its offensive.
The speech comes as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict continue in parallel, including through meetings between US and Russian officials on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
The war in Ukraine, now in its fourth year, remains one of the main topics discussed by leaders meeting in New York this week.
