The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Wednesday raised its forecast for global economic growth for 2026 to 2.9%, according to a report published by Sky News Arabia.

AI-driven investments are helping the global economy hold up slightly better than expected earlier this year, the organization said.

The OECD noted that the energy crisis is becoming more entrenched, putting pressure on the economic outlook for 2027.

The report did not provide further details on which sectors or regions are expected to benefit most from the growth of AI-related investments, nor what actions governments might take to address the fallout from the energy crisis.

The OECD releases its economic forecasts periodically and is one of the sources that governments and markets rely on to assess the trajectory of the global economy.
