North Carolina state trooper charged with murder of police captain
A Cumberland County captain was shot and killed in an apparent domestic dispute in March; a grand jury has now indicted a state highway patrol trooper on first-degree murder charges.
Nekime Matu Oxendine, 44, a North Carolina state highway patrol trooper, has been indicted on first-degree murder charges in the death of Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Capt. Adam Bean, who was shot and killed on March 27 at a home in Hope Mills.
A grand jury returned the indictment on Tuesday. A judge ordered Oxendine held without bond pending trial.
