No, a helicopter video does not disprove the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center's south tower

A viral clip filmed from a helicopter does not show the point of impact, so it cannot be used to dispute the confirmed 9/11 attack, fact-checkers say.

A claim circulating online alleges that a video filmed from a helicopter on September 11, 2001, proves that no aircraft actually struck the World Trade Center's south tower, but a fact-check by France 24 found the claim to be unfounded.

According to the report, a former British member of parliament shared the video and suggested it undermines the established record of the attack, which killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

France 24's verification found that the helicopter footage was filmed from an angle that does not capture the side of the south tower where United Airlines Flight 175 struck. Because the point of impact falls outside the camera's field of view, the absence of a visible plane in the clip does not constitute evidence that no aircraft hit the building.

The September 11 attacks have been extensively documented through multiple video angles, eyewitness accounts, air traffic control records, and physical evidence recovered from the crash sites, all of which confirm that hijacked commercial aircraft struck both towers of the World Trade Center as well as the Pentagon, while a fourth plane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Fact-checkers noted that claims questioning the basic facts of the attacks resurface periodically online, often relying on selectively framed footage or out-of-context video angles to suggest inconsistencies with the historical record.
