Nato jets shoot down drone violating Lithuania's airspace
A drone that reportedly entered from Belarus was shot down near Kaunas in central-southern Lithuania early Tuesday.
Nato fighter jets shot down the drone after an alert was issued in the capital Vilnius and surrounding region, according to Lithuania's emergency authorities. The drone was brought down near Pratkunai village and was heading west, according to Lithuania's crisis management centre as reported by national radio LRT.
The incident comes less than a day after Poland scrambled fighter jets and retrieved a suspected Russian drone that was adrift in its waters, marking a continued pattern of aerial incursions in the region.
