MS Now, CNN say reporters denied White House access after Trump announces media ban

News outlets MS Now and CNN said Saturday morning that their journalists were denied access to the White House grounds, a day after President Donald Trump said he would ban reporters from the two organizations, along with the website Politico, from the executive branch complex.

MS Now said one of its reporters and a cameraman were denied entry and had their White House press passes confiscated by the US Secret Service at a security gate outside the West Wing, according to the outlet.

CNN reported that its reporter Betsy Klein was similarly turned away and had her press pass seized at the White House on the same morning.

According to the report, Trump had said a day earlier that he intended to bar journalists from MS Now, CNN and Politico from the White House, criticizing their coverage of his administration. "You get sick of it," Trump said, according to the source, referring to the outlets' reporting.

Neither the White House nor the Secret Service has provided additional public comment on the incidents as described in the report. It was not immediately clear how long the restrictions would remain in place or whether other journalists from the affected outlets would face similar denial of access.

MS Now and CNN are among several major news organizations that maintain regular access to White House press briefings and events as part of the traditional press corps covering the presidency.
