Microsoft is updating its smaller Surface devices, refreshing the Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 Plus chips.
According to the company, the new models largely retain the same design and hardware features found in last year's versions, with the main change being the move to Qualcomm's newer, more capable processors.
The refreshed devices also come with higher price tags than their predecessors. The 12-inch Surface Pro previously started at $799.99, though pricing has now increased, which the company has linked in part to broader industry pressure on component costs, including memory pricing.
The Snapdragon X2 Plus chips are expected to offer improved performance over the previous generation of Arm-based processors used in Microsoft's smaller Surface lineup, continuing the company's push toward Arm-powered Windows devices alongside its traditional Intel and AMD options.
