McVay Says NFL Confirmed Pass Interference Call Against Rams Was Wrong

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said the NFL has told the team that a defensive pass interference penalty called against cornerback Josh Wallace during Sunday night's game should not have been flagged.

The call proved pivotal in the Rams' loss to the Denver Broncos, with McVay addressing the league's feedback in comments to reporters afterward.

A Costly Call

McVay did not dispute that officiating decisions are part of the game, but he confirmed that the league's review process found the pass interference call against Wallace was incorrect, a determination that came after the result had already been decided on the field.

The acknowledgment offers little practical relief for the Rams, who were unable to overturn the outcome of the game despite the league's after-the-fact assessment.

Looking Ahead

McVay's comments add to a recurring conversation in the NFL about the impact of officiating decisions on close games, particularly plays that directly affect the final result.

The Rams will look to move past the setback as they turn their attention to upcoming fixtures, with McVay's remarks underscoring the frustration of losing a game partly shaped by a penalty the league itself has since disavowed.
