Climate March in France: 'We Must Not Forget the Summer of 2026'

Around 260 climate rallies are being organised this Saturday, 26 September, across France, mobilising activists in towns and cities throughout the country.

The marches come after a summer of 2026 marked by a prolonged heatwave, record-breaking wildfires and a drought that continues to affect several French regions.

Gabriel Mazzolini, spokesman for the association Les Amis de la Terre, has been invited to speak on these issues, stressing the importance of not allowing the climate events of this summer to fade from public memory once the season is over.

The organisers of these marches hope to maintain pressure on public authorities so that the lessons drawn from the summer's extreme climate events translate into concrete measures on environmental policy.

Saturday's mobilisation is part of a series of climate marches that have been held regularly in France for several years, led by environmental associations and citizens' collectives.

The high number of rallies planned across the country reflects growing concern around climate issues, fuelled by the succession of extreme weather events recorded in recent months.
