Man on the run after alleged break-in at Darwin Air Force base, assault on ADF member
An intruder breached a Royal Australian Air Force base in Darwin on Monday, assaulted a defence force member and escaped in a stolen vehicle, authorities said.
NT police said a person "unlawfully gained access" to the RAAF base in Winnellie, Darwin on Monday afternoon. The intruder allegedly assaulted a member of the defence forces before fleeing the scene in a stolen car and remains at large.
Defence Force confirmed the incident in a statement. Authorities have not yet released details about the identity of the intruder or the extent of injuries sustained by the ADF member.
