Moins d'un an après le changement de régime survenu à Madagascar, une enquête publiée le 23 septembre 2026 par le collectif All Eyes On Wagner (AEOW), rattaché à l'ONG INPACT, met en lumière les efforts déployés par la Russie pour s'imposer sur la Grande Île, selon RFI.
D'après cette enquête, Moscou aurait mené une offensive rapide et aux formes multiples afin de faire de Madagascar un point d'appui stratégique dans l'océan Indien, une région d'importance géopolitique croissante.
