Macklemore Says He Will Donate $1m Tour Salary to Palestinian Relief Efforts

Rapper Macklemore has said he will donate the $1m salary he received as an opening act on Ed Sheeran's Loop tour to organizations providing relief to Palestinians and working in Gaza, according to the Guardian.

The announcement comes after Macklemore was dropped from the tour following backlash over comments he made onstage in support of Palestinians, the Guardian reported.

Macklemore also publicly challenged Robert Kraft, the billionaire owner of the New England Patriots and a prominent donor to Israel, to match his $1m donation, according to the report. Kraft had reportedly refused to allow Macklemore to perform at Gillette Stadium outside Boston, one of the tour venues.

The Guardian article did not specify which organizations would receive the donation or provide further detail on the nature of Macklemore's onstage remarks that led to his removal from the tour.
