Last Seen review – this gripping Apple TV thriller is one of the standout shows of the year
Patrick Brammall and Maxine Peake star in a superbly acted drama about a father who believes his missing daughter may still be alive after receiving a mysterious phone call.
Last Seen follows Ian (Patrick Brammall), a former cop now working for Australia's emergency phone service, whose daughter Maggie disappeared 11 years ago and is presumed dead. When he receives a phone call he believes is from her, his life is upended. Ian is six months sober, separated from his ex-wife, and struggling to move on from the past.
The Guardian's review calls it "a classic, twisty thriller with a killer premise," praising director Christian Schwochow's direction and the performances by Brammall and Maxine Peake. The reviewer states they felt invested from the start and was "totally hooked" by the third episode.
