Tan Dhesi, chair of Labour's defence committee, said the Argentinian president's comments this week demonstrate why Prime Minister Andy Burnham should increase defence spending immediately to meet the 3% of GDP target by 2030.

Dhesi pointed to confusion surrounding the government's defence spending plans, after Burnham initially appeared to reassure him the 2030 target would be met, before Downing Street later reversed that position.
