KP police fatalities rise 93.7pc in first half of 2026, official data shows

A total of 122 police personnel were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the first half of 2026, compared with 63 fatalities recorded in the corresponding period of 2025, an increase of 93.7 percent, according to official data cited by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

The data also showed that 175 police personnel were injured during the first six months of 2026, though APP's report was cut off before detailing the comparable injury figure for the same period in 2025.

APP's report referenced a 33.9 percent increase in attacks, though it did not specify the total number of attacks recorded in either period or provide a breakdown by district, attack type, or the groups responsible.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has experienced elevated levels of militant violence in recent years, with security forces and police frequently targeted in attacks attributed by Pakistani officials to militant groups operating in the province and along the border with Afghanistan.
