The New York Knicks said on Thursday that they were pausing individual game ticket sales for the 2026-27 season after a pricing error caused some tickets, including those for the team’s season opener, to be listed at prices exceeding $1,000.
According to the team, the get-in price — the cost of the cheapest available ticket — for the October 20 season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers had spiked to $1,408 before the sale was halted.
The Knicks, who enter the season as reigning NBA champions, put single-game tickets for the coming season on sale earlier this week. The organization said the elevated pricing was the result of a mistake rather than an intentional strategy.
MSG Sports, which oversees ticketing for Madison Square Garden events, said it would restart sales after correcting the error and would issue refunds to fans who had already purchased tickets at the inflated prices, according to the team.
The October 20 matchup is expected to draw significant attention as it marks the season debut for LeBron James, who is now with the 76ers, against the defending champion Knicks.
The Knicks did not provide further details on the cause of the pricing error or a specific timeline for when ticket sales would resume at corrected prices.
