Kazakhstan Says Infrastructure Ready to Expand Gas Transit from Russia to Uzbekistan

Kazakhstan's infrastructure is prepared to support an expansion of natural gas transit from Russia to Uzbekistan, according to Kazakh Vice Energy Minister Kaiyrkhan Tutkyshbayev, as reported by TASS.

Tutkyshbayev said the country's existing pipeline network has the capacity to handle increased volumes of gas passing through Kazakhstan en route from Russia to Uzbekistan.

However, the vice minister noted that a final decision on expanding the transit arrangement has not yet been made.

The report did not specify a timeline for when such a decision might be reached or provide additional details on the scale of the potential expansion.

Russia has in recent years supplied natural gas to Central Asian countries including Uzbekistan via pipeline routes that pass through Kazakhstan, as regional energy demand has grown.
