2026 Youth Olympic Games: Olympic flame welcomed in Dakar

Senegal celebrated on Saturday the arrival of the Olympic flame, which was handed earlier in the day to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, during a ceremony held at the African Memorial Square.

Senegal welcomed the Olympic flame for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, according to information reported by RFI. Having arrived in the country over the weekend, the flame was handed to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye during the morning of Saturday, September 12.

A ceremony was then organized at the African Memorial Square in Dakar to mark this event, according to the same source. This milestone is part of the celebrations leading up to the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, of which Dakar is the host city.
