Mohammad Sharifullah, 28, was convicted in April of providing material support to Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), the affiliate that claimed responsibility for the August 26, 2021 attack. A federal jury in Virginia sentenced him Wednesday to 20 years in prison.
Jurors could not reach agreement on whether Sharifullah bore direct responsibility for the bombing itself, according to the court record.
