The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has found that the war in Iran has cost the US at least $38 billion and significantly depleted its stockpile of defensive missiles, according to a report released less than two months before midterm elections.
The Pentagon's inspector general separately reported that the US spent $22.3 billion on munitions alone through June 30, with total spending reaching $33.4 billion. The review found the conflict has "resulted in strategic inventory shortfalls and revealed industrial base bottlenecks for munitions resupply."
