Iran seeks a deal with the US, not war, says President Pezeshkian
Iran's leader told Fox News that Tehran had reached an understanding with the US president and remains willing to move forward on that basis.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in a Fox News interview that Iran is seeking a diplomatic agreement with the United States rather than continued conflict.
"We did reach an agreement with your president," Pezeshkian said, according to the interview, adding that "based on that, we are willing and still wish to move forward."
A message aimed at Washington
The remarks suggest Iranian officials see room for further diplomatic engagement with the US administration, even as tensions between the two countries have remained elevated in recent months.
Pezeshkian's comments were made during the same week he addressed the UN General Assembly in New York, where he has been engaging with international media as part of Iran's broader diplomatic outreach during the session.
The White House had not issued an immediate public response confirming or characterizing the agreement referenced by Pezeshkian at the time of reporting.
