Iran Lifts Ban on Government Use of Foreign Messaging Apps
Government spokeswoman says the move aims to help officials counter disinformation and psychological operations against Iran, according to TASS.

Iran has lifted a ban that had prevented government agencies from using foreign messaging applications, according to a report by the Russian news agency TASS.
Islamic Republic Government Spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said the main goal of the policy change is "to ensure the ability to promptly respond to emerging doubts and planted information, as well as effectively counter psychological operations and the information war" against Iran, TASS reported.
The report did not specify which foreign messaging platforms were previously restricted or provide further details on the scope of the lifted ban, such as which government agencies would be affected or when the change would take effect.
Iran has in the past restricted access to certain foreign communication platforms for its citizens, though the TASS report focused specifically on the use of such applications by government agencies rather than the general public.
TASS did not provide additional context on the timing of the decision or cite any other officials beyond Mohajerani's remarks.
