The move coincided with a separate aviation disruption reported by Iran's semi-official ISNA news agency: a flight from Tehran to Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, was forced to turn back after Turkmenistan denied Iranian airlines permission to use its airspace.
Turkmenistan, which lies between Iran and Tajikistan, controls airspace that Iranian carriers typically use for flights toward Central Asia. ISNA did not report why Turkmenistan withheld permission for the crossing, and there was no immediate comment from Turkmen authorities.
Neither Iranian nor Emirati aviation officials have publicly detailed the reasons behind the cancellation of flights to the UAE. It remains unclear whether the two developments are connected or whether further disruptions to Iranian air traffic are expected.
