The simultaneous presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India, on the occasion of a BRICS summit, illustrates according to RFI the warming of relations between the world's two most populous countries.

According to the media outlet, the grip is gradually loosening between the two economies, with authorization for new Chinese investments on Indian territory, particularly in a sector considered strategic: mobile phone manufacturing.

RFI recalls that while China remains by far the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, India is progressing rapidly in this industrial sector.

An alliance between two major players in this industry was announced in July, in the form of a joint venture. The Chinese company Vivo and the Indian company Dixon thus sealed their collaboration, as evidenced, according to the report, by a visit to one of their factories in the New Delhi suburbs.

This industrial initiative is part, according to RFI, of a broader context of diplomatic thaw between New Delhi and Beijing, marked by the gradual lifting of certain restrictions imposed in recent years on Chinese investment in India.
