Hundreds turn out for Jacob Elordi lookalike contest in Bristol
A University of Bristol student group organised the competition, which featured a round testing contestants' Australian accents.

Hundreds of people gathered for a lookalike competition centred on the Australian actor Jacob Elordi, organised by a group of students from the University of Bristol.
The event drew a large crowd of entrants and spectators, joining a wave of similar celebrity lookalike contests that have taken place in cities in recent times, in which members of the public compete to be judged as the closest match to a well-known actor or public figure.
As part of the contest, participants took on an Australian accent round, a nod to Elordi's own nationality, with judges assessing entrants on their attempt at the accent alongside their physical resemblance to the actor.
A growing trend
Lookalike competitions of this kind have become increasingly popular as informal, low-cost community events, often organised by students or local groups rather than professional promoters. They typically rely on word of mouth and social media to draw crowds, with turnout at this event in Bristol numbering in the hundreds.
Organisers framed the competition as a light-hearted gathering rather than an official or endorsed event, and it does not appear to have involved Elordi himself.
The event adds to a string of similar contests centred on other celebrities that have taken place in various cities, reflecting the format's appeal as a free, participatory alternative to more conventional public entertainment.
