Hubble Captures Superbubble Nebula in Large Magellanic Cloud

NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has captured an image of the nebula N44, located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, according to a release from NASA. The agency dated the image Sept. 3, 2026.

According to NASA, the nebula is characterized by two prominent features: a large central void and a surrounding shell of dense, dusty gas.

NASA described the central void as a "superbubble," measuring approximately 210 by 140 light-years across.

The image also shows a cluster of bright stars within the nebula, NASA said, though the space agency's release did not provide further detail on the mechanisms that formed the superbubble or the composition of the surrounding gas shell.

The Large Magellanic Cloud is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way and a frequent subject of observation for astronomers studying stellar nurseries and nebular structures.
